Keeping your spa clean is essential to its attractiveness and smooth
operation. Inadequate or infrequent cleaning encourages algae growth,
filter problems, murky water and reduced effectiveness of spa care
products. Some of the steps below may apply to outdoor spas only:
- Remove any debris from the water to avoid staining and bacteria
contamination.
- Brush any loose dirt on spa walls toward the bottom drain (if
so equipped).
- Clean out the skimmer basket as often as needed.
- Clean spa surfaces and water line residue with a surface cleaner
especially formulated for pool/spa tile and vinyl surfaces. (Do
not use this product on wooden hot tubs.) Avoid the use of household
cleaners, scouring powders or other abrasives on acrylic or fiberglass
surfaces.
- Clean or hose down the spa decking to keep dirt out of the spa.
- Check the filter regularly for proper operation. Check the filter
medium for scale, grease and oil build-up that can cause clogging.
Backwash/clean the filter according to the manufacturers
instructions. Clean the filter medium with a filter cleaner as
needed (at least once every six weeks). Replace the filter medium
if necessary.
- Test the water for proper water levels and adjust as needed.
